Large Screw Eye

Tensioned Cable Hardware - Provides a solid perimeter and support foundation to which all types of bird netting can be fastened. 

Corner Hardware - Maximum strength hardware designed to bear the loads of the bird netting installation. Used at all corners, cable breaks and at both ends of support cables.

Large Stainless Steel Screw Eyes
  • Stainless steel heavy duty screw eyes are the main support hardware (in wood and sheet metal over wood surfaces) for the Tensioned Perimeter Net Cable system. Use at least one large screw eye at all cable corners, breaks and changes in cable direction.
  • Maximum distance between large screw eyes is 50 feet. For longer spans of cable, use multiple screw eyes.
  • Used as anchoring points for overhead wire grid systems.
  • All HD Stainless Steel Screw Eyes have a 17/32” inside diameter eyelet and a 1” long lag threaded stem.
  • Large stainless steel screw eyes are sold in packages of 10 each.

Large Stainless Steel Screw Eye installation specs
  • For wood and covered wood surfaces (wood beams, glue lams, timbers, ledge flashing, etc.).
  • Pre-drill surfaces to prevent surface damage. For wood, drill small pilot-hole at least 1” deep. For sheet metal flashing over wood, you may need 2 pilot-holes, 1 for the sheet metal and a smaller one for the wood core.
  • Maximum spacing of large stainless steel eyebolts is 50 feet. For runs longer than 50 feet, install multiple eyebolts along the path of the cable.
  • Each large screw eye will hold at least 2 large, 3 medium or 4 small turnbuckle hooks or 3 connection thimbles.
When and Where to Use Large stainless steel screw eyes:
  • The large stainless steel screw eyes are designed to anchor the corners and main fastening points of the tensioned perimeter cable systems used to secure bird netting enclosures and overhead grid wire systems.
  • Can be installed in solid wood and sheet metal flashing over wood core surfaces. For steel or masonry surfaces, use the Large Eyebolts with Hex Nut.
Large stainless steel screw eye Installation Tips:
  • Always pre-drill the surface. This helps prevent damage from splitting or checking.
  • A screw eye driver (not included) can be used for both the large and small screw eyes. Use caution not to strip out the holes with an overpowered screw gun.
  • Do not use large screw eyes in thin sheet metal surfaces. Contact Nixalite of America Inc for alternatives.
  • IMPORTANT: Always make sure the the surface will support the tension from the cable system. Do not attach corner hardware to surfaces in poor condition or where there is no structural support.
  • If attaching in wood, make sure the wood is solid, dry and has no rot or end checking. Do not install any hardware into a knot.
